Casey and Gregory said “I Do” in front of their friends and family at The Vineyards at Betty’s Creek, nestled in the Nantahala National Forest in Western North Carolina. The kindness and warmth from their friends and family had us forgetting that it was a late-winter wedding!
The Perfect Vineyard Venue
The Vineyards at Betty’s Creek is the perfect venue for those wanting to spend the weekend with their friends and family. With multiple on-site accommodations available, our favorite is the Lodge. This beautiful and historic structure dates back to the 1820s. What I personally love most about the lodge is that unlike similar venues who have remodeled and updated their on-site lodging, VBC has chosen to restore and maintain the original structure. C + G spent the weekend in the Honeymoon Cottage which is above one of the venue’s ceremony sites. In addition to the on-site accommodations, VBC has a groom’s barn for getting ready, a stunning pavilion for your reception, and various sites to host your ceremony. Beyond the beautiful spaces the venue has to offer, Kathryn Rose Event Company was blown away by the level of professionalism exhibited by the staff at VBC, specifically the venue manager, Tracy.
Chilly Weather, Warm Vibes.
Casey and Gregory chose to have their wedding in early March. In the mountains of North Carolina, this can be a risky move. The chilly weather on the day of their wedding didn’t slow the couple or their guests down one bit. After a quick 20 minute ceremony on the lawn, guests were shuttled up the hill by VBC staff for a cozier cocktail hour in the pavilion. Casey and Gregory offered their guests plenty of drink options with their specialty cocktail being a hot (spiked) apple cider! The pavilion has retractable sides that maintain some heat even while having a few sections left open for guests to enjoy dancing on the bump out.
A Streamer Situation
After making it through the day without any rain, the skies opened up just before Casey and Gregory’s exit. Knowing that their special send-off included streamer poppers, both the planners and venue decided it was best to have it indoors. We had never used the streamer poppers before and weren’t entirely sure what to expect. While the execution was a bit chaotic (and hilarious), the photos taken by Bek Rogers turned out amazing. Bek captured the hilarity and joy of the moment perfectly and I’m so glad to have these photos to look back on.
After each event, the wedding day team from Kathryn Rose Event Company discusses their major takeaways from the wedding. When it came to Casey and Gregory, we had the same thought: these two really, really love each other. It was clear throughout the weekend that Casey and Gregory were a safe space for one another both physically and emotionally. They are incredibly in tune with each others’ emotions and nonverbal cues and we truly enjoyed being a part of their love story.

Working with Katy was one of the easiest decisions that came out of our planning process and one I would make time and time again. One of the things our guests noted more than anything from our wedding weekend was how smoothly things seemed to go, as well as the laid back nature that allowed everyone to fully enjoy themselves. Katy and team were pros at keeping everyone on track without being overbearing and knew exactly what I was needing before I even did. Our wedding day was everything we could have imaged, and I even felt like we had time carved out to appreciate all of the little moments- all of which, I credit to Katy. – Casey K.
